Board members are responsible for ensuring that to organization:

  • Remains mission-focused
  • Operates effectively and ethically
  • Maintains financial integrity
  • Complies with all legal and regulatory obligations
  • Implements effective advocacy and public-outreach strategies

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend quarterly board meetings via video conference
  • Provide strategic direction and governance
  • Serve on one or more committees (Advocacy, Governance, Finance, Technology, Communications, or Fundraising)
  • Review and approve major organizational policies
  • Approve the annual budget and financial reports
  • Participate in strategic planning
  • Promote the organization and serve as an ambassador
  • Assist with annual fundraising goals as able

Estimated Annual Commitment: 25–40 hours

  • Quarterly meetings (virtual or in-person)
  • Committee participation (monthly or bi-monthly meetings)
  • Review of materials, budgets, and policy proposals
  • Attendance at major events or briefings (optional but encouraged)

This is designed to be manageable for professionals with full-time careers.

Financial Contribution

There is no minimum financial contribution requirement. Board members are encouraged (but not required) to:

  • Make an annual contribution in any amount
  • Identify prospective donors
  • Support fundraising campaigns as appropriate
