Many page sets will have a structured version and an unstructured version. For the Books module, the unstructured version includes a Reading List of books I might want to read, and pages for books that I have read and taken notes on. The structured version each book is a record that has attributes such as title, author, category, description, which make it easy to categorize and sort your books. Also, when anyone adds a book, it is added to the shared library and you can add books to your Reading List by browsing the shared library and seeing what others have added. And you will see a link next to a book if any of your contacts have that book either in their Reading List or have already read it in which case they have the option of adding a public comment. And you can start a conversation about it with them. And you can easily recommend any books on your page to others. Then when that person logs in next, they will see a message saying "so-and-so recommended this book to you, would you like to add it to your reading list?"
